From 7 to 11 April, the SPIE Photonics Europe 2024 conference was held in Strasbourg, France. The conference is one of the largest photonics conferences in Europe and covered topics ranging from physical optics and quantum technologies to optical imaging, detection and metrology. Students from NANO-PHOT had the opportunity to present their recent research work in nanophotonics for biosensing applications. They took advantage of the event to interact with leading researchers from all over the world, from the United States, Canada, Italy, Germany, China and Japan, for scientific discussions. EUR NANO-PHOT also took part in the exhibition stand of the Photonics Grand EST regional portal to present the graduate school's programme.
In particular, Nurzad Zakirov and Joelle Youssef are former EUR NANO-PHOT masters students, and are now doctoral students at L2n-UTT and XLIM-CNRS respectively. Their research work has been selected to be highlighted and presented during the "Plasmonic biosensors" session of this conference on April 9.
Shuwen Zeng, permanent CNRS researcher at L2n, has also been invited by Prof. Michael Canva (LN2, CNRS) to present a paper in the session "Biophotonics in Point-of-Care with Nanophotonic Sensing", chaired by Prof. Julien Moreau (Labo Charles Fabry, Paris) and Prof. Ambra Giannetti (Istituto di Fisica Applicata - CNR, Italy).
